URBKON was established in 2008 by three experienced construction professionals who shared a vision: to prove that sustainable building practices could deliver superior performance while strengthening Canadian communities.
Starting with our first LEED Gold community center project in East York, we quickly established our reputation for excellence in green construction. Throughout the 2010s, we expanded our expertise and team, adding LEED, accredited professionals and renewable energy specialists.
Our breakthrough came in 2019 with the completion of the Vancouver Eco-Retail Plaza, which demonstrated that large-scale commercial development could achieve 40% energy savings while maintaining 95% tenant retention. This project positioned us as national leaders in sustainable construction.
Today, after 17 years of dedicated service, URBKON has completed over 75 projects across five provinces, achieved 48 LEED certifications, and created 2.8 million square feet of sustainable built environment. Our team of 45+ professionals continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible in green construction.
